The tools I use

The tools a web designer and developer uses can make all the difference in productivity, creativity, and efficiency. This is a non-exhaustive list of the hardware, software, and resources I rely on in my workflow.

Workstation

Mac Studio

It’s the Apple M2 Max model from 2023, with 64GB of memory, running Sequoia 15.3.1.

Studio Display

Bought together with the Mac Studio, it’s a 27inch 5k monitor that looks great.

Magic keyboard

The one with the fingerprint reader, to save me having to sometimes type in my password.

Magic trackpad

I have used the Magic mouse before, but prefer a trackpad from when I’ve had a laptop.

IKEA desk

It’s the TROTTEN and is a sit/stand desk that may as well not be.

Orangebox chair

Bought secondhand for a good discount, and is comfy enough. Will upgrade at some point.

Development

Zed

Recently switched from VSCode. Have also used Sublime Text and Atom in the past too.

JetBrains Mono

Free monospaced font with an increased x-height, and special ligatures designed for code.

Warp

Command line interface with a modern user experience and AI features.

Arc

A more powerful replacement for Chrome. I’ve also been trying out Zen as I do prefer Firefox.

Sanity

Super flexible headless CMS that makes creating data structures enjoyable.

GitHub

Almost a de facto choice ever since private repositories were possible on the free plan.

Sourcetree

As basic as I need for a visual way to commit and push code.

Insomnia

Decent open-source Postman alternative on the occasion I need to test API endpoints.
